ON THE CHOPPING BLOCK: Arsene Wenger is considering dropping Wojciech Szczesny for the visit of Swansea

Boss Arsene Wenger is understood to be considering axing the goalkeeper and playing Lukasz Fabianski in his place for the visit of Swansea tomorrow.

Szczesny did not even dive when Andre Schurrle scored the Blues' second goal on Saturday and also flapped when Oscar scored the fifth.

There is also believed to be concern at the Gunners over Szczesny's perceived tendency to be cocky.

He illustrated it eight days ago when he posted on Facebook a 'selfie' of himself and team-mates on the pitch at White Hart Lane, after their 1-0 win over Tottenham.

Szczesny was also panned for making an obscene gesture after being sent off against Bayern Munich in a Champions League defeat last month where Fabianski impressed after coming off the bench.

Spurs' England star Andros Townsend hit back at Szczesny after the Gunners' humiliation at Stamford Bridge in Wenger's 1000th game in charge.

FED UP: Wenger has not been happy with the Szczesny's recent performances

"Who thinks we will see another selfie from him after today's game?" he tweeted.

And he also took the unusual step of cancelling today's pre-match press conference.

Laurent Koscielny is expected to miss tomorrow's match after suffering a calf injury at Chelsea which saw him replaced at half-time.

But it appears both Kieran Gibbs and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could BOTH be available.

The FA will transfer Gibbs' red card to Oxlade-Chamberlain after referee Andre Marriner admitted he mistakenly sent off the wrong player in the 15th minute at Stamford Bridge.

The Gunners still intend to appeal against the dismissal for deliberate handball as replays clearly showed the ball was going wide when Oxlade-Chamberlain, so he did not deny Eden Hazard a goal-scoring opportunity.

Arsenal will argue the card should instead be downgraded to a yellow.

Referees' chief Mike Riley has still to decide what punishment, if any, to hand out to Marriner, after his unforgiveable mistake.

Marriner apologised afterwards and former Premier League referee Dermot Gallagher said: "Maybe he wants to get straight back into a game next week, maybe he just wants a cooling-off period to take pressure off. But he certainly doesn't need to be out for the rest of the season."

"He's made a genuine mistake and that's all it was."

"It's an error that can be corrected off the field for Arsenal later this week.

"Arsenal will appeal that Kieran Gibbs didn't handle the ball, which the DVD quite clearly shows, and his red card will be rescinded and obviously Oxlade-Chamberlain will say he handled the ball and he will be the one suspended."
