Torino 0 : 2 Sampdoria - Samp cruise past Torino

Goals from Stefano Okaka and Manolo Gabbiadini helped Sampdoria put back-to-back losses behind them as they cruised to a 2-0 victory at Torino.

Morale must have been low among the Genoa-based side after defeats to Roma and AC Milan, but they responded strongly at the Stadio Olimpico.

Okaka opened the scoring in the seventh minute before Gabbiadini settled matters with 11 minutes remaining with a wonderful strike.

Sampdoria had conceded five goals in their two defeats without scoring, but they ended speculation over a lack of firepower when Okaka found the back of the net after seven minutes, slotting home from close range after latching on to Pedro Obiang's header.

Renan Garcia then narrowly missed the target with Daniele Padelli well beaten, while Okaka took the ball past the Torino goalkeeper but could only strike the bar with the goal gaping, with Gabbiadini then somehow missing the target on the follow-up.

It was a golden let-off for Torino, who were seeking to bounce back from their derby defeat to Juventus last week, and they duly came back into the match, with Angelo da Costa making saves from Jasmin Kurtic's header and Ciro Immobile's shot.

Alessio Cerci was particularly influential for the hosts but he too was thwarted by a tremendous acrobatic save by Da Costa, who tipped away the midfielder's close-range effort.

Da Costa was kept busy after the interval, tipping over Kurtic's effort from the edge of the area as well as Alexander Farnerud's strike from distance.

For all their endeavour, Giampiero Ventura's side could find no way past the inspired Sampdoria goalkeeper, whose efforts were not wasted as Gabbiadini sealed all three points for the visitors 11 minutes from the end with a fantastic 30-yard free-kick that flew into the top right corner.
