Queen of the South are hopeful that Mark Kerr will shake off an ankle injury in time to face promotion play-off rivals Dumbarton at Palmerston Park.

An ankle injury will keep Stephen McKenna out while Michael Paton will not feature due to a hamstring complaint as the Doonhamers look to bounce back from their last-gasp defeat to Falkirk last weekend.

Manager Jim McIntyre said: "We cannot focus on it as all our focus needs to be on Dumbarton.

"We had been on a good run until penalties cost us against Dundee and then Falkirk. Winning this game would be a great start to putting another run together."

The Sons will be without Bryan Prunty as the striker is not yet ready to return following recent leg surgery.

However, Chris Turner has now overcome his ankle injury and is included in manager Ian Murray's plans.

Murray said: "This is a big game in the season for both clubs however all the games between now and the end of the season will be big.

"Both sides have climbed the table since we last met each other in December which would indicate that we have both improved as the season has gone on. This will be a good test of which side has improved the most."
