BIG SURPRISE: Didier Drogba and his Galatasary team-mates plan on shocking Chelsea at Stamford Bridge

Drogba has been promised an emotional homecoming at his old stomping ground by Blues manager Jose Mourinho when his side meet Galatasary in the second leg of their last 16 tie in three weeks’ time.

Chelsea grabbed a 1-1 draw in Istanbul on Wednesday.

But Drogba, the man who won Chelsea the Champions League in 2012 before leaving after eight trophy-filled years, is adamant his old club are not yet home and dry.

He said: “It will be a difficult game but at 1-1 the tie is still open. We’re going to go there and try to create a big surprise.

“Of course I believe we can do it. If not I stay at home, I don’t travel. I don’t go to Stamford Bridge if I don’t believe.

“I was pleased with the way we came back into the game. It was like being back in Cobham in a training session. It’s going to be nice to have a good welcome back at Stamford Bridge.

“But it will not affect my game. As much as I love Chelsea, I am now wearing the Galatasaray jersey and I have to respect the club and the fans, so I will give everything for my team.

Meanwhile, Frank Lampard wants English football’s governing bodies to look after their European adventurers.

Lampard feels a crowded fixture list is doing his team no favours as they chase Champions League and Premier League glory.

Chelsea arrived back from Turkey at 5.30am on Thursday after a three-and-a-half-hour flight, and little more than 57 hours later they will take the field against local rivals Fulham at Craven Cottage.

Lampard said: “It’s not ideal. We don’t expect any favours and certainly know we won’t get them.

“It’s all about resting up and getting ready to go again. I don’t know about the Premier League, but other countries seem to look after the teams representing them in the Champions League. I’m not sure we do so much here.

“I’m not trying to get one over on other Premier League teams, it just seems a general rule. There should be a bit of common sense if you are getting back at 6am.

“We could have done with Fulham being on a Sunday but you don’t get too many favours considering the journey we had. We won’t make excuses before the game though. We need to get our heads down and concentrate. “We can’t moan, we’ve got a fantastic squad with fit young players. We have to get on with it.”
