Falkirk 1 : 0 Queen of South - Last-gasp Millar earns Bairns win
Posted Sunday, February 23, 2014 by PA
A late penalty from Mark Millar secured a 1-0 win for Falkirk against Queen of the South to move them within two points of second-placed Hamilton.
Mark Beck tested Alex Clark in the Doonhamers' goal with a header and two 25-yard efforts from Millar went wide of the target before the break.
David McCracken rose to connect with Millar's floated corner, but he failed to get any power behind it and it went the wrong side of Clark's post.
Paul Burns tested Michael McGovern with a volley but it was hit straight at the 29-year old goalkeeper.
Daniel Carmichael could have won it for the visitors six minutes from time, but his shot inside the area was weak and went wide of the goal and, as the game entered stoppage time, Millar coolly converted a penalty to snatch the three points from Jim McIntyre's side.
