Dumbarton 3 : 3 Raith Rovers - Sons rise to earn point
Posted Sunday, February 23, 2014 by PA
Dumbarton remain unbeaten in 2014 after coming back to draw 3-3 at home to Raith Rovers, who, in contrast, are yet to win this calendar year.
Colin Nish opened the scoring for the Sons when he pounced on a loose ball in the box and fired high into the Rovers net after 24 minutes.
The visitors took just five minutes to draw level through Gordon Smith, who dispatched John Baird's ball for his fifth of the season.
Chris Kane put Dumbarton back ahead after slotting away Scott Agnew's pass into the far corner.
Stephen Grindlay parried a shot onto the post and Baird was there to follow it up and fire it into an open goal to make it 2-2.
Smith was celebrating his second of the game four minutes later, as he headed Grant Anderson's goal into the top corner.
The sides were level again within minutes, as Agnew unleashed a stunning volley from 20 yards to extend Ian Murray's side's impressive unbeaten run.
