Dumbarton vs Raith Rovers preview - Turner back for Sons

Posted Saturday, February 22, 2014 by PA

Chris Turner joins the Dumbarton squad that is looking to defeat visitors Raith and move eight points ahead of them in the race for a play-off place.

Turner has recovered from an ankle injury, though Bryan Prunty is not available due to a leg injury.

Sons boss Ian Murray said: "Things have turned around since we lost to Raith back in December as they were the side chasing a play-off place and we were looking to get closer to them.

"We did not play well when we beat Falkirk last week and we will need to up our game to see off a team that I rate highly."

Raith are missing goalkeeper David McGurn (Achilles), Paul Watson (foot) and Calum Elliot (hamstring) as they look to bounce back from losing 4-2 to Hamilton last weekend.

Manager Grant Murray said: "Our last game was really disappointing as we were four goals behind by half-time. It was hard to accept just a week after going to Hibs and winning in the Scottish Cup.

"I want us to be much more like ourselves against a Dumbarton side that have been in good form.

"A win pulls us to within two points of them with a game in hand and the chance to get right back into the promotion mix."
