Airdrie moved off the foot of the Scottish League One after a late 2-1 home win over Brechin at the Excelsior stadium.

Lewis Coult's 89th-minute winner extended the home side's unbeaten run to four games as they leapfrogged Arbroath.

Brechin had the better of the opening stages and hit the post through Andrew Jackson before Robert Thomson gave the them the lead after 15 minutes.

Airdrie hit back immediately with a low finish from Ross Gilmour, which seemed to give belief to the home side who enjoyed a spell of dominance soon after, with Caolan McAleer testing Graeme Smith in the Brechin goal.

Each manager made tactical changes to try to turn the game in their favour and it seemed to be heading for a draw until late Coult's winner, heading home McAleer's cross.
