Ayr Utd. vs Glasgow Rangers preview - Moffat pays high price for breach

Posted Saturday, February 15, 2014 by PA

Ayr will be without Michael Moffat when Rangers visit Somerset Park as the striker is beginning a four-game suspension for breaching betting rules.

The 30-year-old was initially due to serve a six-game ban, but it was reduced to four at an appeal hearing this week.

Defender Martyn Campbell is expected to be on the bench after returning from a hamstring problem.

Player/manager Mark Roberts said: "Michael has been our main threat all season so he will be missed.

"However it is time for other players to step up and show what they can do.

"They have a great platform to do that against Rangers."

Rangers boss Ally McCoist will have to reshuffle his back four with centre-halves Bilel Mohsni and Lee McCulloch both suspended.

Under-20s defenders Luca Gasparotto and Craig Halkett could be promoted to the first team, but a viral infection means midfielder Lewis Macleod will definitely miss out.

Nicky Clark (foot) is still some way short of fitness, but Chris Hegarty (ankle), Kyle Hutton (broken leg) and Ross Perry (ankle) have all stepped up their recoveries from long-term injuries.
