Arsenal's week from hell gets worse as Sagna and Fabianski reject new deals

ARSENAL have suffered another body blow with Bacary Sagna and Lukasz Fabianski set to quit the club this summer.

DISASTER: After seeing his side collapse at Liverpool, Wenger is set to lose two players for nothing at the end of the season

The Gunners are reeling after being thrashed 5-1 at Liverpool on Saturday.

But now it has emerged that right-back Sagna and goalkeeper Fabianski - who are out of contract at the end of the season - have turned down new deals.

Seven major clubs, including title rivals Chelsea and Manchester City, are keen on signing Sagna on a free - and the France star has told team-mates he is off.

Poland international Fabianski, 28, revealed yesterday he no longer wants to play second fiddle to international team-mate Wojciech Szczesny at The Emirates.

Fabianski - who has been capped 21 times - said: “I want to be No.1 in the club and in the Polish national team. I have learned a lot at London during very positive and challenging periods.

“With biggest respect to this great club, I didn’t accept the extension offer as I am looking forward to a new challenge in England or abroad.”

Sagna is upset that Arsene Wenger and Arsenal did not approach him sooner about a new deal, leaving talks until his final year at the club - in sharp contrast to their approach to other stars.

Wenger has changed his rule for Sagna having previous only offered a one-year contract to his over 30s.Arsenal's week from hell gets worse as Sagna and Fabianski reject new deals

The deal on the table for Sagna - who is 31 on Friday - is two years, but still at his current salary of £60,000 a week.

But Sagna feels he deserves much more, especially as he has not had a single pay rise since signing an improved deal in the summer of 2008.

He also remained loyal to the club while a host of other stars left the trophyless club, including Gael Clichy Samir Nasri (Manchester City), Cesc Fabregas (Barcelona) and Robin van Persie (Manchester United).

Starsport can reveal the 38-times capped Sagna has previously resisted approaches from City twice, Inter Milan and Real Madrid, with current Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho also a big fan.

Sagna has now made up his mind to to leave, having received staggering offers from elsewhere.

FAREWELL: Sagna looks set to leave the Emirates this summer

Megabucks Monaco are willing to pay £120,000-a-week AFTER tax for three years along with a signing on fee of £10m spread over that period.

Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich and Galatasaray are also keen on the defender, who has been one of Arsenal’s most consistent performers this season.

Sagna, though, does not intend to pick a club until the season is over as the north Londoners chase their first title for a decade.

His loss will be another major setback for Wenger, whose men were deposed at the top of the table by Chelsea on Saturday after defeat at Anfield.

It has been a miserable weekend for the Frenchman with reports emerging of centreback Per Mertesacker being involved in bust-up with team-mate Yaya Sanogo.

There were also claims striker Olivier Giroud romped with a model in his hotel bedroom until three in the morning before a recent game against Crystal Palace.
