Diego Ribas makes the cut

Brazilian Diego Ribas, Atletico de Madrid's most-recent signing, arrived in Madrid on Saturday, and without even training with his new team, was named in Diego Simeone's 18-man squad for the tomorrow's game against Real Sociedad at the Vicente Calderon.
His presence in the squad, following confirmation of his signing last night, just an hour and a half before the transfer window closed, is the big news for this weekend's game. Arda Turan missed out on a place in the squad through injury, despite recently recovering from a calf problem, as do Tiago Mendes and Filipe Luis. Simeone also left Jose Gimenez out of the squad.
Simeone called up 18 players: keepers Thibaut Courtois and Dani Aranzubia; defenders Juanfran Torres, Javi Manquillo, Joao Miranda, Diego Godin, Toby Alderweireld and Emiliano Insua; midfielders Jose Sosa, Mario Suarez, Diego Ribas, Gabi Fernandez, Koke Resurreccion, Cristian Rodríguez and Raúl García; and strikers David Villa, Diego Costa and Adrian Lopez.
