Hamilton FC vs Dumbarton preview - Neil absence hard to stomach

Posted Saturday, February 01, 2014 by PA

Hamilton are again missing Alex Neil against Dumbarton.

Player/manager Neil has a stomach injury and will only be on the sidelines as the Accies look to make amends for last weekend's 4-3 home defeat to Cowdenbeath. Striker Jon McShane left the club this week after falling out of favour.

Neil is looking for his side to defend to a higher standard against the Sons than they did against the Blue Brazil.

He said: "We made poor decisions last weekend which is very unlike us. To go 4-0 down was incredible but the boys showed great spirit and almost rescued a point.

"We need that spirit and better defending if we are to beat Dumbarton."

Dumbarton are without the suspended Paul McGinn and Chris Turner for the trip to New Douglas Park, while goalkeeper Jamie Ewings and Hugh Murray miss out with hamstring injuries.

Manager Ian Murray is keen to tie up Celtic youngster Michael Miller on loan ahead of kick-off.

He said: "We are on a great run of three wins in a row. Making that four and keeping hold of fourth place in the table would be a terrific afternoon's work at Hamilton.

"We were poor the last time we played at Hamilton and they won convincingly. However, we won at our place so we will take confidence from that."
