Real rushing for Rooney, says British press

The possibility of Mata moving to Manchester United opens the doors for Rooney to bid farewell to Old Trafford. His contract with the club ends in June 2015.

According to reports in the British press, Real Madrid is back on the trail of the England striker. This is not the first time that Florentino Pérez has shown an interest in a player who appears to have run his course at United.

'Los Blancos' will undoubtedly face some stiff competition. Mourinho has remarked on several occasions that Rooney is a player that he likes and Chelsea could find a place for him in its ranks.

Luis Suárez and Agüero are two other names which have been linked to the Spanish outfit, but the Uruguayan has just renewed his contract with Liverpool and City is not willing to part with one of its most fundamental players.
