Arbroath vs Brechin City preview - Arbroath and Brechin eye spoils

Posted Saturday, January 11, 2014 by PA

Arbroath hope to add Dumbarton midfield enforcer Kevin Nicoll to their squad prior to their all-Angus clash against fellow strugglers Brechin at Gayfield.

The Red Lichties include Ricky Little for the first time in six months after a foot injury however Connor Birse remains out with a knee injury.

Player/manager Paul Sheerin said: "It is a surprise that both teams are near the bottom of the table but we have to deal with that. It would be great to get our home games in 2014 off and running with a win.

"If we can win we have a platform to climb the table."

Brechin goalkeeper Graeme Smith will return after injury to take the place of the on-loan Calum Antell, however defender Jonny Brown misses out through suspension while Gerry McLaughlan is an injury doubt.

Ryan Donnelly has been released and joined Albion, Stuart Anderson is expected to complete a move to Highland League football while Allan Walker, who finds himself on the transfer list, will be involved.

Manager Ray McKinnon said: "We lost 5-1 at home to Forfar in our last game and need to get that out of our system quickly as it was a horrible performance.

"Winning away in a derby game would be the perfect response to that afternoon."
