Alloa Athletic 0 : 1 Cowdenbeath - Blue Brazil end away-day drought

Cowdenbeath secured their first league success on the road this season thanks to striker Kane Hemmings' solitary strike at Alloa.

Hemmings struck the decisive goal in the 73rd minute - his 16th of the season - when he despatched midfielder Dean Brett's cross from close range.

Alloa forward Andrew Kirk and Cowdenbeath's Kyle Miller threatened to make an early breakthrough and visiting midfielder James Stevenson spurned another good chance just before the break.

Home midfielder Kevin Cawley forced a smart save from Cowdenbeath goalkeeper Thomas Flynn in the 55th minute and Alloa forward Graeme Holmes lashed a shot over the crossbar.

But Jon Robertson went close again for Cowdenbeath in the 71st minute before Hemmings pounced to convert Brett's fine ball into the box.

Alloa substitute Stephen Simmons saw his late effort fumbled by Flynn and Daryll Meggatt pulled his chance off target as the visitors held on for only their second win in nine league games.
