Clint Dempsey loan to Fulham officially announced

Clint Dempsey is officially returning to Craven Cottage.

The U.S. national team captain will join Fulham for a two-month loan from the Seattle Sounders, the clubs confirmed Tuesday. Fulham manager Rene Meulensteen last week said Dempsey had undergone a medical in anticipation of the move, which will see the midfielder play for the Cottagers through January and February before returning to Seattle for the start of the MLS season in March.

Dempsey, 30, joined the Sounders in August after one season with Tottenham. From 2007 to 2012, the Texan notched 52 goals and 18 assists in 184 appearances for Fulham, including 17 goals in the 2011-12 campaign.

Fulham finds itself in danger of relegation, sitting in 19th in the 20-team Premier League with a 4-12-1 record.

"This has always kind of felt like my home in Europe," Dempsey told FulhamFC.com. "I just wanted to get back to playing at the highest level, get back to top form, getting back and helping the team in a situation where they're not where they want to be in the table. But yeah, going into a World Cup year you want to get that top form and carry that forward so hopefully you can have a good showing."
