Torino vs Chievo preview - Toro progress pleases Ventura

The month of December has offered plenty of successful moments for Torino and the Granata will be looking to end it on a high note when they host Chievo on Sunday.

Toro followed their 1-0 triumph over Lazio with a 2-0 triumph at Udinese last weekend to climb to seventh in the standings.

"We are having a great season and doing things that we weren't able to achieve in the past," Toro coach Giampiero Ventura said.

"Our win against Udinese was our first in Udine in 20 years and it is an important victory against a very good side.

"When you have the privilege to coach a team that is so hard working as this one is then things are much easier."

Toro have lost just once in their last seven league games while they have shown great balance at both ends of the pitch.

The Granata have scored eight goals while they have given away just two in their last four Serie A games.

"We are just following our path," Ventura said. "We are aware of our strengths.

"Only through the work we do on a daily basis can we achieve something important this season."

Rivals Chievo travel to Turin having seen their four-match winning run came to an end in last weekend's 1-0 defeat to Sampdoria.

The outcome in Verona marked Eugenio Corini's first loss since returning to guide Chievo last month.

The result dropped the Flying Donkeys to 16th place, two points clear of the drop zone.

However, Corini is confident his side will bounce back immediately.

"I did not see a drop in concentration from my players against Samp," Corini said. "In fact our performance was great even though the result went against us.

"We were unable to score but the will and determination was there.

"I'm certain that if we hand these type of performances in the future, we will not lose many games."

Chievo must overcome the absence of experienced defender Bostjan Cesar, who serves a one-match ban.

The home side will be without midfielders Alexander Farnerud and Omar El Kaddouri, with the former suspended and the latter out injured.
