Raith Rovers vs Cowdenbeath preview - Cardle sits out derby

Raith will be without winger Joe Cardle in the Fife derby against Cowdenbeath.

Cardle is starting a two-game ban after being dismissed in last Saturday's 2-1 win over Dumbarton.

Goalkeeper David McGurn remains out after an achilles tendon injury, Paul Watson is missing due to a foot problem and Grant Anderson is a major doubt with a knee injury.

Stark's Park manager Grant Murray said: "Cowdenbeath will be on a high after winning at Dundee so we have to be at our best.

"It would be great to win as it would keep us in the top four and put pressure on the sides above us."

Cowdenbeath manager Jimmy Nicholl will finalise his side for their short trip to Kirkcaldy after late checks on Nat Wedderburn and Jon Robertson.

The midfield duo picked up knocks in last Saturday's fine 2-1 win at Dundee and only returned to training on Thursday with Nicholl keen to ensure that there has been no adverse reaction.

Jamie Stevenson is available after injury and Nicholl said: "We will take confidence from our win last weekend. We got in front and then lost a goal but rather than feel sorry for ourselves we went out and scored a second and saw things out.

"Hopefully we can build on that at Raith."
