Arsenal's Wenger Doesn't Envy Manchester City's Squad

COMMENTARY | Ahead of Saturday's big match away to Manchester City, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger spoke to Arsenal.com about his expectations for his team at the Etihad Stadium. Wenger said, "What we want to do is just to be ourselves with our quality, with our spirit, with our attitude and we want to get a result. City have a very strong squad, I do not deny that. But I look at my squad and I do not envy them."

The manager also stated, "What is important is how we play together. On that front, I think we have done very well since the start of the season." The Gunners have largely surprised everyone by winning 11 of their first 15 Premier League matches and sitting five points clear atop of the standings.

Manchester City, one of the preseason favorites to win the Premier League, is currently six points behind Arsenal in the standings. A win for Arsenal and the north London club would move nine points clear of "The Citizens", a win for City and they would close the gap to just three points.

Wenger also revealed that first choice right back, Bacary Sagna, has a small chance to be in contention for the massive match on Saturday, after missing out of the three previous Arsenal games. The Frenchman stated, "We have some doubts. The main doubt we have is about Sagna, who will have a test (on Friday) and after that I will make the decision about whether I take him with us or not."

German forward Lukas Podolski is finally nearly fully fit after missing out on the last three and half months with a hamstring injury. However, while Podolski is fit, Wenger won't be throwing up straight out against Manchester City. The manager stated, "He (Podolski) is available. I feel he is still a bit short to go into a match of that level of intensity but after this weekend I will consider him to be available."
