East Fife 1 : 0 Stenhousemuir - Fisher strike enough for Fifers

Posted Sunday, December 08, 2013 by PA

A solitary goal by Gary Fisher fired East Fife out of the bottom two as they beat Stenhousemuir 1-0 at Bayview Stadium.

The only goal came shortly before the break as Liam Buchanan's ball set up Fifers midfielder Fisher and he fired into the bottom corner past Warriors goalkeeper Chris Smith.

The hosts nearly doubled their lead before the half-time whistle as Pat Clarke missed from close range.

Stenhousemuir, who went down to a second loss in a row, struggled to create chances and it was Fisher who came close again in the second half before Pat Clarke had an effort saved by Smith.

Martyn Corrigan's side pressed for an equaliser but the hosts held on to gain a valuable victory.
