Dumbarton 1 : 1 Alloa Athletic - Prunty earns point for Dumbarton

Posted Thursday, December 05, 2013 by PA

Bryan Prunty's superb overhead kick earned Dumbarton a point in a 1-1 draw against Alloa.

Kevin Cawley, who had been pulling the strings in the early stages, opened the scoring for the visitors when he turned in a neat pass from Graeme Holmes.

Cawley was everywhere, clearing a shot from Prunty off the line after good work from Mark Gilhaney and then heading the ball back across goal for Stephen Simmons to fire straight at the goalkeeper from close in.

Simmons saw a shot come back off a post but it was all square when Gilhaney's cross found Prunty and his acrobatic shot found the bottom corner.

Cawley had the chance to snatch it for Alloa from Declan McManus's knock-down but he fired wide.
