ARSENE Wenger has hit back at the critics who claim Arsenal aren’t good enough to win the title.

CONFIDENT: Arsese Wenger is confident that Arsenal can with the title

The Gunners, who face Hull at home tonight, are four points clear at the top of the Premier League.

After an opening-day blip against Aston Villa, Wenger’s boys have been by far the most consistent side this season.

Despite setting the pace, they have often been written off as true title contenders.

But anyone who says Arsenal can’t win it in 2014 because they haven’t won it since 2004 is wrong says Wenger (below).

He said: “When I arrived here people explained I couldn’t win the title as I am foreign. I just think you win the title through quality.

“If we didn’t win for eight years it is because we weren’t good enough in the important moments of the season.

“If you just say, ‘Arsenal won’t win the championship because they haven’t won it for eight years’ then it’s just an opinion.

“I have enough experience to analyse what we do and how well we play. I don’t need someone else to tell me.”

STRONG: Wenger believes that his team are strong enough to lift the Premier League trophy this season

Arsene Wenger says Arsenal are finally good enoughThe Frenchman admits he watches ‘Match of the Day’, where former stars Alan Hansen and Alan Shearer have been busy writing Arsenal off.

But he reckons he only tunes in if he can’t find any decent foreign football on another channel.

He said: “Sometimes I watch it, sometimes not.

“On Saturday night there’s a lot of football going on.

“I can watch the German reports, the French reports, so I juggle a little bit.”

Wenger, who insists he is more than happy for his side to lead from the front, yesterday denied claims that he had bid for Brazil striker Alexandre Pato or set up a six-month loan deal for Real Madrid hitman Alvaro Morata.

The Gunners boss knows he has German striker Lukas Podolski close to a comeback after three months on the sidelines.
