Jamie Longworth made it seven goals from three games as Stranraer beat Ayr 6-3 in a thrilling encounter.

The Blues took the lead when Longworth (11) smashed in from close range before Ayr hit back four minutes later when Michael Moffat's right-footed drive found the top corner of David Mitchell's net.

Ayr went ahead when Moffat lifted the ball over Mitchell two minutes later before Longworth completed a first-half hat-trick with two close-range efforts.

Stranraer midfielder Christopher Aitken made it 4-2 from the spot after David Hutton felled Andrew Stirling three minutes into the second half before Moffat completed his hat-trick from 12 yards after he was fouled in the area by Mitchell.

Substitute David McKenna made it 5-3, firing high into the net from inside the penalty area, before Aitken's late penalty - after Hutton hauled down Longworth - rounded off the scoring.
