Falkirk 4 : 1 Livingston - Bairns too strong for Livi

Falkirk secured their fourth home win in the Scottish Championship this season with a convincing 4-1 win against poor travellers Livingston.

The Bairns hit the front in the 37th minute when Livi failed to clear a free-kick and 20-year-old defender Will Vaulks was on hand to tap home his first goal for the club.

The visitors tried hard to rally but could not quite turn some decent pressure into scoring chances and Michael McGovern had little to do in the home net before the break.

Early in the second period, Rory Loy shot just wide of the target and had a header tipped over the crossbar, while Phil Roberts also had a chance to put Falkirk further ahead.

However, Loy did then double the advantage after 52 minutes when cutting inside and curling a left-foot shot past outstretched Livi goalkeeper Darren Jamieson.

On the hour mark, Craig Sibbald took full advantage of an assist from Conor McGrandles to hit home a low shot and open his account for the campaign and then Loy scored his second and Falkirk's fourth when slotting home after Jamieson could only block a Roberts shot.

Livi pulled one back through a David McCracken own goal and almost added another when Andrew Barrowman went close late on, but the visitors still slipped to a fifth defeat in six away games.
