Genoa vs Parma preview - Ghirardi wants more of the same

Parma president Tommaso Ghirardi hopes his team can pick up where they left off against AC Milan when they visit Genoa.

Ghirardi believes Parma showcased their best form of the season in the 3-2 victory against the Rossoneri on Sunday.

Marco Parolo's free-kick at the death stunned Milan and handed Parma three points.

"It's the perfect win," Ghirardi said. "It's the victory that you dream of as a boy.

"To win against a great team like Milan, having suffered a lot and with a late goal at the last minute, is something special.

"We are delighted and this is the best thing that football can offer you.

"I am very impressed with how the team played.

"I think it was our best performance and I hope we can keep up the good work."

The result allowed Parma to bounce back from their loss by the same score at Hellas Verona and lifted Roberto Donadoni's side to eighth in the Serie A table.

Opponents Genoa will have to keep a close eye on Parma midfielder Parolo, who has found the back of the net three times in his team's last two games.

Genoa go into the match at the Luigi Ferraris stadium on the back of a 2-0 defeat at Juventus.

The result was Gian Piero Gasperini's first loss since taking over as manager of Genoa earlier this month.

"These defeats are useful in order to show what our weaknesses are and what we need to improve on," Gasperini said.

Genoa's main problem has been their defence with the Grifoni having conceded at least one goal in their last five games.

Defeat on Wednesday could see Genoa drop into the relegation zone as they lie 16th in the standings, just two points clear of Bologna, who stand 18th.
