Airdrie 0 : 2 Forfar - Trialist inspires Loons at Airdrie

Jamie McCluskey did his chances of earning a contract no harm with the opener in Forfar's 2-0 win at Airdrie.

The 25-year-old started the match as a trialist as he continued his recovery from a serious Achilles injury. It took the midfielder just 13 minutes to stake his claim for a permanent deal, finishing from close range from Dale Hilson's ball in.

The hosts rarely threatened in the first half. Liam Coogans hit a left-footed effort wide before firing straight at Darren Hill with half-time approaching.

McCluskey's goal looked to be the winner until Ross Campbell drilled home a penalty in stoppage time to secure all three points for the Loons and leave Airdrie bottom of League One.
