Hamilton FC 1 : 1 Raith Rovers - Raith deny Hamilton

Posted Sunday, October 20, 2013 by PA

Ten-man Raith Rovers snatched a 1-1 draw at New Douglas Park to prevent leaders Hamilton maintaining their three-point advantage at the top of the Scottish Championship.

James Keatings broke the deadlock for Accies just after the half hour mark, smashing hard and low past David McGurn after being put through one-on-one by Alister Crawford.

Rovers were reduced to 10 men in the 33rd minute when Douglas Hill received his marching orders for a second bookable offence after bringing down Keatings.

However, the visitors came close to equalising 10 minutes into the second half when Greig Spence cut inside from the right wing, forcing Kevin Cuthbert to parry it away.

Rovers were then almost punished by Accies in the form of Crawford, whose testing drive forced a good save out of McGurn.

Raith managed to grab an equaliser after Michael Devlin brought down substitute Gordon Smith in the box. Calum Elliot stood up to slot home the spot-kick past Cuthbert to snatch a point for the 10 men.
