Andrew Dowie's late header earned Queen of the South a share of the spoils as they held Cowdenbeath to a 1-1 draw at Palmerston Park.

The visitors dominated the early stages of the match and went ahead in the 11th minute when Greg Stewart's low drive slipped under Queen of the South shot-stopper Calum Antell.

The Doonhamers almost drew level in the 22nd minute when Derek Lyle headed Ian McShane's corner against the bar from close range but it remained 1-0 going into half-time.

The hosts improved dramatically in the second period and Jim McIntyre's men finally got on the scoresheet five minutes from the end when defender Dowie nodded in from close range to secure a point.
