Greenock Morton 2 : Alloa Athletic - Alloa win at struggling Morton

Posted Sunday, October 06, 2013 by PA

Alloa scored either side of half-time as they beat Championship basement side Morton 2-0.

The hosts had chances early on but it was Alloa who took the lead four minutes before the break. They were rewarded for a strong finish to the first half when Graeme Holmes slotted home from six yards.

Alloa doubled their advantage just three minutes into the second half. Michael Doyle crossed for Andy Kirk to finish with his head into the top-right corner of the goal.

Nicolas Caraux denied Alloa a third when he saved Declan McManus' right-footed effort from close range.

The visitors were not to be denied the points, though, as they made it back-to-back wins and moved up to fifth.
