Valdano analysed the current situation at Real Madrid during his weekly appearance on 'El Larguero'. According to the former Real Madrid CEO, "Ancelotti is trying things out. He's still in that phase. It's an exploratory process which hasn't finished yet."
As for Gareth Bale's start to the season, Valdano admits to having his doubts. "Based on what we saw yesterday, it is not going to be easy to fit Bale into the starting eleven. What increased his price was his ability to score goals."
The former Real Madrid director of football also mentioned the absence of Xabi Alonso, a player who he believes is an essential part of the 'Merengue' outfit. "I have no doubt that Xabi Alonso will start when he returns. I do have my doubts about who will play alongside him."
Finally, the Argentinean considered the meeting held between the coaching staff and the players at the beginning of the week to be a positive thing. "I think it's good for the players to meet and accept their responsibility when things aren't working."
