Stranraer vs Arbroath preview - Bleak outlook for Winter
Posted Saturday, October 05, 2013 by PA
Stranraer will be without Sean Winter as they look for the win that will lift them to within a point of their mid-table opponents Arbroath.
Winter is struggling with an ankle injury and Stranraer boss Stephen Aitken said: "We battled hard to get a point at Brechin last weekend after going a goal behind.
"We will need to battle hard to get anything from this one as Arbroath will take a huge lift from beating Forfar 3-0 last Saturday.
"They are a well-organised side, however we have been strong at home and we want that to continue.
"We won the last game between us here 2-0 and a repeat of that would be very welcome."
Arbroath will be without Connor Birse (knee) and Graham Bayne (ankle).
They join Ricky Little (foot) on the sidelines and player/manager Paul Sheerin could also be missing two more players as Lee Sibanda and Steven Milne face fitness tests.
Sheerin said: "Stranraer is a tough venue so you want to be heading there with as strong a squad as possible.
"Unfortunately we are a bit light, however the players that come in have the chance to stay in the team.
"We won well against Forfar last weekend and now need to show some consistency."
