East Fife vs Airdrie United preview - Naysmith bids to kickstart Fifers

Bottom-of-the-table East Fife will look to jump over visitors Airdrie without striker Christian Nade due to a knee injury.

The experienced Gary Naysmith is available after recovering from a dead-leg to help manager Willie Aitchison get the New Bayview side's season up and running.

Aitchison said: "We've slipped to the bottom as we've been showing the unfortunate combination of making mistakes at the back and not finishing well enough when we have chances.

"We've worked really hard in training all week and if we take the things we have done well there on to the park then we will do well against Airdrie."

Airdrieonians could be short of firepower as John Boyle is still out following knee surgery, while Lewis Coult and Jim Lister are both struggling to make it due to knocks.

Young defender Chris O'Neill is also sidelined with an ankle problem, but manager Jimmy Boyle will make no excuses.

Boyle said: "We may be short of strikers, but I'm still looking for us to take the game to East Fife.

"We were unlucky to lose to Dunfermline last weekend and we deserved more than a 2-1 defeat.

"Hopefully we can get back the points we lost in that game by seeing off an East Fife side determined to get off bottom spot."
