Valencia sends Rami off... possibly for good

Valencia has moved to suspend the French centre-half Adil Rami from his contract after his controversial comments in which he criticised both the coach Miroslav Djukic and his colleagues.
Rami acussed his team mates of being "teacher's pets" and his coach of not looking him in the face when he spoke to him. "We have lost important players this year like Albelda, Soldado and Tino (Costa). Now, in the dressing room we only have teacher's pets who don't speak to your face", was part of the polemic statement the player gave to a Spanish radio station.
In the meantime, as a decision is to be made about the future of the player, it has been agreed in Granada, where the first team play on Wednesday, between Djukic, the club President Amadeo Salvo and Sporting Director Braulio Vázquez that Rami should be suspended from all club activities and all payments by the club.
Djukic decided on Tuesday to drop Rami from the squad for the Granada game after his "disrespectful public comments against both the coach and his colleagues", according to a club statement.
On hearing the news Rami flew first thing on Wednesday morning to Madrid, to then catch a train to Valencia where dozens of local journalists awaited his arrival at the station.
Now a final agreement needs to be made on the player's future, but the club's idea is that Rami will not wear the club shirt again.
