Annual Award from Fans - Khedira is German football's ambassador

Real Madrid's midfielder Sami Khedira was chosen to be German football's ambassador for 2013 by the country's fans, for having made a positive contribution to the image of his country around the world.

"It's an honour to win this prize awarded by Germany fans. It means I've been doing a good job in Madrid for the last three years", he told the media department of the German national side.

Khedira was voted into the role ahead of Lazio striker Miroslav Klose and Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker. "I'm happy and I want to stay with Real Madrid for many years to come", added the Madrid player.

The creator of this initiative, Roland Bischof, gave the award to Khedira at the Valdebebas training facilities, and the German plans to donate it to the 'Real Madrid Foundation'.
