Torino vs Hellas Verona preview - Ventura wants Torino progress

Torino coach Giampiero Ventura has called on his players to keep improving as they look to continue their positive start to the Serie A season against Hellas Verona on Wednesday.

The Granata have won two of their opening four games and have lost just once so far.

Last weekend's 2-1 triumph at Bologna was their first win on the road of the new term and lifted Ventura's side into seventh place.

"It was important to give continuity to our good performances," Ventura said. "We played well at Bologna and we were rewarded.

"I am very happy that the team is playing well but what really interests me are the results because that is what counts.

"We still have room for improvement but are on the right path."

A win on Wednesday would be a big boost in confidence for Il Toro ahead of Sunday's city derby against Juventus.

"We started the week on the right foot and we hope we will end it in the same manner," Ventura said.

The home side welcome back defender Guillermo Rodriguez, who has recovered from a minor knee injury and will feature against Verona.

The Gialloblu, meanwhile, suffered their second reverse of the campaign on Sunday - going down 2-1 at Juventus.

But Verona coach Andrea Mandorlini was not too disheartened with the result.

"There is a reason why Verona have not won in Turin in the last 50 years," he said. "It has always been difficult for us to beat Juve.

"But I have to congratulate my players because they played well and did exactly what I asked them to do."

The visitors are still without the team's top scorer Luca Toni, who is yet to recover from an ankle injury.

Daniele Cacia, who has yet to open his account for the new campaign, will lead Verona's attack.
