Atletico Madrid vs Osasuna preview - Simeone full of confidence

Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone has full confidence his team can extend their 100 percent start to the season by beating Osasuna at the Vicente Calderon.

Los Rojiblancos followed their 3-1 win over Zenit St Petersburg in the Champions League with a hard fought 2-0 victory at Real Valladolid, and Simeone is determined for his side to keep the run going.

"There is no reason at all for us to end this run we are on, that would make the huge effort we made in Valladolid count for nothing," he told a press conference.

"It wouldn't be good if tomorrow we don't get a good result at home. We need to keep growing as a team."

Simeone revealed he would make five changes to the side that beat Valladolid, but would not say which players would be rested or return to the side.

Juanfran Torres is expected to start ahead of Javier Manquillo, while Emiliano Insua could make his debut for the club at left-back, to give Filipe Luis a rest.

Elsewhere, Tiago Mendes is likely to step in for Mario Suarez, while Toby Alderweireld may also make his debut, and Leo Baptistao could make his first start.

Despite his belief his side will beat Osasuna, he warned that the Navarrans, who beat Elche last Friday to record their first win of the season and first victory under new coach Javi Gracia, would be no pushovers.

Simeone said: "When a new coach arrives some players get another chance, and their last result has lifted their hopes and expectations.

They have quick, dangerous players on the flanks, like [Emiliano] Armenteros and Sisi and midfielders who can retrieve the ball and attack quickly."

Osasuna have been dealt a blow with the news that midfielder Roberto Torres will miss the game after being ruled out of action for three weeks following a face fracture.

Gracia admitted losing Torres was a setback, but tried to be optimistic in his pre-match press conference.

"I'm positive and I always think about getting the best I can out of the players we have available," he said.

"Together we're going to plan for a game against a side that are strong in attack and defence, that is quick on the counterattack and dangerous from set pieces. We'll have to play with a lot of intensity and play as well as them if we are to get something."
