Chandler notches assist in Nurnberg draw

Timmy Chandler has become somewhat of a forgotten man in the U.S. national team picture, but the fullback did what he could to keep his name on the radar with his play Sunday.
Chandler assisted on the opening goal in FC Nurnberg's 1-1 draw with Eintracht Braunschweig, helping his struggling side to its third point of the Bundesliga campaign.
Nurnberg entered Sunday as losers of two straight, but Chandler completed a run down the right channel and sent in a cross that eluded a teammate and defender at the edge of the 6-yard box before finding Adam Hlousek by the far post. The Czech Republic winger took a first-time touch to open the scoring in the 28th minute.
Braunschweig's Omar Elabdellaoui scored in the 70th minute to level the score and prevent Nurnberg from earning its first victory of the season, though.
As for Chandler, who has not played for the USA since the opening game of the CONCACAF World Cup qualifying Hexagonal -- a 2-1 loss to Honduras in San Pedro Sula -- the start was just his second of the season.
