Emmanuel Adebayor: Ready for the challenge of competing for a starting spot at Tottenham
Emmanuel Adebayor has declared that he never considered leaving Tottenham Hotspur and is relishing the competition for places at White Hart Lane.
Spurs sold Gareth Bale during the transfer window but have bolstered their squad with a number of eye-catching signings and there are now a host of options for Andre Villas-Boas in attack.
Adebayor had been linked with a move elsewhere but he insists he is happy at the club and had no intention of going anywhere.
He told All Africa.com: "I decided with my manager, even before the start of the transfer window that I would not leave Tottenham and that's what I did.
"I have never thought of leaving Spurs. I am here, my family feels great here and I do not see myself in another city."
Roberto Soldado has gone straight into Tottenham's starting line-up since signing from Valencia and Erik Lamela was then bought from Roma in a club-record deal, while Jermain Defoe remains a key a part of Villas-Boas' plans.
However, Adebayor is confident that he will ultimately emerge as the first-choice striker under Villas-Boas.
He said: "Today I will not tell you that I 'm stronger than Soldado or Defoe or Lamela.
"We now have four in the attack, I do not know who ranks first, second or third but I know at the end I will be the first and it is the most important."
