Posted Sunday, September 01, 2013 by PA

Michael Moffat scored twice as nine-man Ayr held Airdrieonians to a 2-2 draw.

The Diamonds went in front in the fourth minute when defender Patrick Boyle's long-range effort found the top corner of Ayr stopper David Hutton's net.

The hosts found themselves on level terms eight minutes later when Moffat slotted the ball underneath Andrew Duncan from close range.

Ayr went 2-1 up five minutes later when Moffat tapped in his second from the middle of the box after good work from Michael Donald on the left wing.

The visitors equalised eight minutes before the break when Nathan Blockley nodded in William McLaren's cross.

Ayr were reduced to 10 men in the 51st minute when Gordon Pope saw red for a foul in the box. Hutton was on hand to save McLaren's penalty and keep it at 2-2.

Mark Roberts' side went down to nine men four minutes later when midfielder Alan Forrest was dismissed but they held on to secure a point.
