Dunfermline 3 : 1 Stranrae - Pars steal points with late show

Posted Sunday, September 01, 2013 by PA

Dunfermline moved up to second in the table after coming from behind to record a 3-1 win over Stranraer.

The Pars moved within three points of league leaders Rangers but had to do it the hard way after conceding early on.

The hosts keeper Ryan Scully saved Christopher Aitken's 22nd-minute penalty but Martin Grehan was on hand to poke the rebound home and give the visitors an early lead.

However, Jim Jeffries' men hit back straight away when Andrew Geggan scored from close range to level the score for the Pars.

With the scores all square at the break Dunfermline scored two late goals to break the visitors' hearts.

Firstly, Luke Johnston stabbed home a Ross Millen free-kick with eight minutes left before substitute Allan Smith's superb late strike wrapped up the points for the Pars.
