Both sides finished with 10 men as East Fife beat Arbroath 2-1 at the Bayview Stadium.
East Fife took the lead in the 10th minute when defender Scott Durie nodded in his first goal of the season from Craig Johnstone's searching corner.
The hosts looked good going forward in the early stages of the first half and it wasn't long before they doubled their advantage. Liam Buchanan converted from the spot in the 31st minute after Colin Hamilton saw red for fouling Johnstone in the box moments earlier.
Arbroath pulled one back four minutes before the break when Alan Cook's free kick flew into the bottom of Michael Andrews' net.
The Fifers went down to 10 men in the 74th minute when Durie picked up his second booking, but his side clung on to secure victory.
