Alloa Athletic 3 : 1 Cowdenbeath - Late double sinks Blue Brazil

Posted Sunday, August 25, 2013 by PA

Alloa scored twice in the last 10 minutes to beat bottom side Cowdenbeath 3-1.

The visitors' striker Kane Hemmings blazed over from a tight angle and Alloa defender Ben Gordon did likewise from a more central position as the two sides cancelled each other out in the first half.

Alloa needed just four minutes to open the scoring after the break as Gordon headed home Ryan McCord's corner.

It was all square just five minutes later when Hemmings got on the end of Jordan Morton's free-kick and nodded past Scott Bain.

Andy Kirk put Alloa back in front with a neat finish under Thomas Flynn, before Eddie Ferns secured all three points a minute from time when he slotted in after good work from Kevin Cawley.
