LA Galaxy 2-0 C.S. Cartagines: Donovan and Keane link up in CCL win

Los Angeles as the Galaxy defeated Cartagines of Costa Rica in the CONCACAF Champions League group stage at the StubHub Center.
The Galaxy had the better of the early going, with Robbie Keane particularly lively. The Irishman had a number of near-misses including a shot across Wardy Alfaro' far post in the 22nd and an effort late in the half where Alfaro made a save on Keane's tight-angle shot at the near side.
It took the introduction of fellow DP Landon Donovan in the second half for Keane to find the net. The American star spotted Keane making a run to the far post and sent a long ball over the top and across the field. Keane collected well and slotted his finish under and off of Alfaro to take a lead in the 66th minute.
Keane doubled up in second-half stoppage time, again fed by Donovan, who cut an excellent through-ball to leave Keane all alone in front of Alfaro's net, and it was a simple deed for the decorated forward to finish.
Los Angeles moves to first place in Group 8 following the win. LA will next host El salvador's Isidro Metapan on Sept. 18.
