Dundee 1 : 0 Alloa Athletic - Dundee leave it late to beat Alloa

Posted Sunday, August 18, 2013 by PA

Kevin McBride's injury-time penalty handed Dundee a 1-0 win over Alloa, their first since relegation from the SPL.

The visitors had the better of the first half but failed to make the most of their opportunities. Ryan McCord saw his header brilliantly saved by Kyle Letheren, James Creaney's 30-yard strike flashed just over the bar and Daryll Meggatt headed over as Alloa pressed for the opener.

It was a role reversal after the break, with Dundee having all the possession and penning Alloa in. Substitute Martin Boyle was denied by a stunning save by goalkeeper Scott Bain before the late drama.

Willie Robertson tripped substitute Steven Doris on the edge of the box and McBride fired home the resulting spot-kick.
