Negredo will terrorise Prem defendersMANCHESTER CITY are ready to unleash ‘The Beast’ on unsuspecting Premier League defenders next month.

The club’s new Spanish striker Alvaro Negredo stands at 6ft 1in and is known for giving opponents a hard time with his physical qualities.

It earned the £16.4million star the nickname The Beast of Vallecas among his team-mates at Seville — so he arrives in England with a fearsome reputation.

And after spending all his career in Spain, hitman Negredo believes he is at the right age to bare his teeth over here.

The 27-year-old said: “My team-mates first started calling me The Beast. It soon became so popular that the media in Spain also started to use the nickname.

“It made me laugh. But, yes, I am a strong player who can fight and be physical. I think I have some qualities that will suit the Premier League.

“I think my style suits the game in England but I also like to believe I have good technical ability as well.

“City will get my best years. Now I am at the peak of my form and also this is another league and style of football.

“I am very confident I will succeed here, not just on an individual level but also in the group.

“I think I can be both physical and technical. There are obviously some matches where the physical approach is very important and other games where you can show off your skill.

“I think I am a player with many qualities. I have a strong all-round game.

“I am not just a goalscorer, I think I also work hard for the team.”

City’s new boss Manuel Pellegrini believes he has the best strikeforce in the Premier League with Negredo, Edin Dzeko, Sergio Aguero and Stevan Jovetic making up his awesome foursome.

Negredo added: “It is an honour to be part of a squad like this.

“Pellegrini is known for the attractive style of his football. That is why he had a long and successful career in Spain because his teams played excellent football.

“It didn’t matter whether he was at Villarreal, Real Madrid or Malaga — his teams always played attacking football. I am sure that is why City wanted him.”
