Dunne hopes QPR will give Joey Barton one last chance
BAD REP ... Barton is known for his temper

QPR defender Richard Dunne hopes his new club will give bad-boy Joey Barton one last chance.

The midfielder was shipped out on loan to Marseille last season and manager Harry Redknapp has questioned his future.

But Dunne played with Barton at Manchester City and feels he still has plenty to offer.

Dunne, 33, said: “He’s had problems but on the pitch he’s a winner.

“If he is still here — which hopefully he is — then he will be a big asset for the club.”

QPR face Italian side Udinese in Austria tonight but Barton has not made the trip.

Meanwhile, Dunne’s Ireland future hangs in the balance after he was told to prove his fitness to boss Giovanni Trapattoni.
