JOHN TERRY is fighting for his Chelsea future.
New boss Jose Mourinho has told the club’s captain, leader, legend he has to prove himself all over again.
Mourinho stressed: “He’s not safe and he knows he’s not safe.
“The only thing he knows is safe is our friendship, our relationship.
“We spoke about it and he understands perfectly that friends are friends but business is ‘apart’.
“This is business so, yes, he has to prove himself.
“I cannot make him protected or favourite in front of someone else — and he knows that because he knows my nature.”
Defender Terry, 32, has just one year of his contract to run and Mourinho has challenged him to prove he is worth a new deal.
The Portuguese said: “From a physical point of view, John needs to work hard and not have injuries because injuries break the evolution of the player.
“For me, that’s the key point for John. He has to prove himself like everybody else.”
