Moyes: Roo won’t be sold

MOY TIME ... new United boss arrives in Bagkok ahead of pre-season tour

JOSE MOURINHO has increased his wooing of Wayne Rooney.

The Chelsea boss likes the Manchester United star ‘very, very much’.

And Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger also fancies having the unsettled striker.

But United boss David Moyes said: “Wayne is a Manchester United player and it will remain that way.”

Chelsea, who have been holding meetings to discuss Rooney, and United are both in Thailand for their pre-season tours.

And Mourinho forced Moyes into a public statement after declaring his admiration for Rooney — who has flown home from the Far East with a hamstring injury.

The Blues boss said: “He’s a player I like very, very much.

“Being fast and direct, I like him very much but he’s a United player. From an ethical point of view I can’t speak about players from other teams.”

But Moyes, who is preparing for his first game as United boss today against a Singha All-Star XI, said: “Unless I was speaking double Dutch last week, we said Wayne is not for sale.

“It’s hard to keep repeating myself but I will — Wayne is a United player and it will remain that way.

“Jose said in his comments that he doesn’t normally talk about other players. But it does happen.”

Wenger also weighed in to the issue when asked about Rooney, Luis Suarez and Gonzalo Hinguain.

The Gunners chief: “Those players are all realistic targets. They are all under contract and it is their current club who decide if they can go.”

Rooney arrived home yesterday and is expected to be out for a month.
