Paulinho keen to be Spurs' Lampard

Tottenham's new signing Paulinho is pleased to be drawing comparisons with Chelsea's Frank Lampard.

Fresh from his victory with Brazil at the Confederations Cup, Paulinho is expected to join his Tottenham team-mates for pre-season training in the near future.

The box-to-box midfielder has already been tipped to shine in the Premier League, with many comparing his skill sets to Lampard, an association that Paulinho is proud of.

"This comparison is a responsibility I will take, I will not run away from it," he told The Daily Mail.

"Lampard is a great player not only for Chelsea but world football."

Citing Lampard as an inspiration, the 24-year old has set his sights on being as influential as the Englishman in his new role for Spurs

"I intend to follow in (Lampard's) footsteps as he is a very professional guy. David Luiz always speaks of him on international duty," Paulinho shared.

"I've always looked at what Lampard does and, to me, he is a phenomenon - the way he hits the ball, what positions he takes up. He really is incredible."
