Pique would welcome Silva to Barcelona

Barcelona's Gerard Pique would welcome the club's rumoured transfer target Thiago Silva to the Camp Nou.
The duo crossed paths recently during Brazil's 3-0 win in the Confederations Cup final over Spain and could find themselves playing on the same side soon, as reports indicate that Barcelona have made a 32 million Euro bid for Silva.
Although Paris Saint-Germain have declared their intentions to hang on to the Brazilian, that did not stop Pique from rolling out the welcome mat for the former AC Milan player.
"Thiago Silva would be welcome," he said to Sport.
"Great players are always welcome at the Camp Nou and a player of his qualities would work perfectly."
Tito Vilanova's side finished as La Liga champions last season, but were humiliated in the Champions League by eventual winners Bayern Munich.
Hoping for Barcelona to reclaim their place at the pinnacle of Europe, supporters are eager for the side to add on to recent buy Neymar, especially in the form of defensive reinforcements. However, Pique assured fans that failure to sign Silva would not spell the end of their aspirations for more silverware.
"We are already strong as we are: Bartra [Marc] did a very good Under 21 championship, 'Puyi' [Carles Puyol] if the preseason he starts well, we know his quality, physically is a bull, and 'Masche' [Javier Mascherano] is a player who always is valuable," he stated.
"The bad luck has been injuries, but if we continue with the same it will not be a problem."
